Story FAQs

Story FAQs – the nitty-gritty and junk in between….
Can I use your photos or writing from your site?
No, sorry, NOT UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME FIRST. All of the content on this site is copyright protectedIf I have adapted a recipe from a book or other site, I always reference the original source. Please do the same if you are using a recipe. If it is one of my own recipes or you are inspired by my work, please link back to my page to give credit where it is due. Please e-mail if you have any questions about this. UPDATE: Despite my very clear instructions, I’ve had people steal my work. I watermark my photos now. If you steal my writing and don’t link back and give me credit, you are lazy and rude. I know how to find your IP address and find you.

What kind of camera do you use for story of a kitchen?
I am currently using a point-and-shoot Canon Power Shot SD 750. I read the manual (yes! it comes with instructions!) and find that I can take fairly impressive photos without the higher-end manual models — sometimes. I admit, I am working on getting an even better camera, because I think I could have a lot of fun with it.
UPDATE: I now have a Canon Rebel T3i as of January 2012. As of 2017, I still barely knew how to use it. As of 2020, I started using my iPhone for most photos.

How do I contact you?
Please contact me at story.of.a.kitchen [at] gmail [dot] com if you have questions, comments, or concerns. I will try to answer e-mails individually, but I can’t promise I will be swift or eloquent.

Do you do product reviews or giveaways?
No, at this time I do not. I struggle with whether or not this would detract from the personal feel of the blog.

Will you answer my e-mail / comment?
I will try! If I do not answer within 72 hours, please check comments from a current post that may answer your question. Remember that I am thankful for everyone of my readers and would love to talk about food with each and every one of you personally. I couldn’t do this without you. Sadly, there are not enough hours in the day with my day job and my three children to answer all e-mails. To quote writer Anne Lamott, “Life is terribly time-consuming.”

I have a food blog. Can you link to it or exchange links?
Although I would love to link and exchange links with everyone who requests, it would be too cumbersome and time consuming to do so.

Can I link to the story of a kitchen food blog?
Sure!

Can I e-mail you about mistakes in your recipes or otherwise?
Please do. Give constructive criticism kindly. UPDATE 2021: Not everyone does this, even on a small-ass blog like this one. If there are mean comments and I think others would benefit from the conversation, I’ll post them. If not or it looks spammy, nope. Remember, I’ve had this blog since 2011 — I’m not the same person when I started this.

Do you have a conversion table on your site?
I have links for conversions on the Conversions page. If you have another question not on the FAQs, please e-mail me and I can try to help!
